REC - Shutter [Edit Game]

Shutter is a free survival horror game developed by KGames. The game goes for some of the most common themes to instill fear in the player – a creepy setting almost in complete darkness (the haunted asylum), a main character with issues (a reporter with insomnia) and some unexpected flashes to make you jump. However, the use of a camera as the main view is particularly effective and chilling, as those who played Fatal Frame (Project Zero) know very well. A Night Vision option allows for a better view of the surroundings but doesn’t turn the asylum into a much lit place. Shutter won’t win any awards (at least in this prototype/demo version, the full version is still in development) but it’s very effective in what it tries to accomplish. Played under the right conditions it can be very scary, although the recurrent use of jumpscares is something that some horror fans may be getting tired of.
